input.
Software Description:
- libytnef: Yerases TNEF Stream Reader library
Details:
It was discovered that Yerase's TNEF had null pointer dereferences, infinite
loop, buffer overflow, out of bounds reads, directory traversal issues and
other vulnerabilities. An attacker could use those issues to cause a crash
and consequently a denial of service. (CVE-2017-6298, CVE-2017-6299,
CVE-2017-6300, CVE-2017-6301, CVE-2017-6302, CVE-2017-6303, CVE-2017-6304,
CVE-2017-6305, CVE-2017-6306, CVE-2017-6800, CVE-2017-6801, CVE-2017-6802)
Update instructions:
The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following
package versions:
Ubuntu 16.04 LTS:
libytnef0 1.5-9ubuntu0.1
In general, a standard system update will make all the necessary changes.

A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:
- Ubuntu 20.10
- Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
Summary:
GDM could be made to create privileged users.
Software Description:
- gdm3: GNOME Display Manager
Details:
Kevin Backhouse discovered that GDM incorrectly launched the initial setup
tool when the accountsservice daemon was not reachable. A local attacker
able to cause accountsservice to crash or stop responding could trick GDM
into launching the initial setup tool and create a privileged user.
Update instructions:
The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following
package versions:
Ubuntu 20.10:
gdm3 3.38.1-2ubuntu1.1
Ubuntu 20.04 LTS:
gdm3 3.36.3-0ubuntu0.20.04.2
Ubuntu 18.04 LTS:

Nontheless the packagers should review their packages whether they indeed have
to depend on the full-blown git which pulls in Perl and Python. Very probably
they could switch to a tinier git-core:

blueman vulnerability
==========================================================================
A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:
- Ubuntu 20.10
- Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
Summary:
A security improvement has been made to blueman.
Software Description:
- blueman: Graphical bluetooth manager
Details:
Vaisha Bernard discovered that blueman did not properly sanitize input
on the d-bus interface to blueman-mechanism. A local attacker could
possibly use this issue to escalate privileges and run arbitrary code or
cause a denial of service. (CVE-2020-15238)
While a previous security update fixed the issue, this update provides
additional improvements by enabling PolicyKit authentication for
privileged commands.

[arch-announce] Accessible installation medium
From release 2020.11.01 onward these are available via the 2nd boot loader
menu item. A [specific installation guide](https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Install_Arch_Linux_with_accessibility_options) can be found on the wiki.
Many thanks go to Alexander Epaneshnikov who integrated the features from the [TalkingArch](https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/TalkingArch) project into archiso's releng profile, which is used for creating the installation medium.
Note: The boot loader timeouts have been set to 15s to allow blind users to select the menu item as the boot loaders themselves do not offer accessibility features.
