A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:

- Ubuntu 25.04
- Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Summary:

xmltodict could be made to crash or run programs if it received specially
crafted input.

Software Description:
- python-xmltodict: Makes working with XML feel like you are working with JSON

Details:

Camilo Vera discovered that xmltodict parsed maliciously crafted XML input,
contrary to expectations. An attacker could possibly use this issue to
cause a denial of service, obtain sensitive information, or execute
arbitrary code.

Update instructions:

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following
package versions:
